About the role
As a Field Service Technician, you will join a skilled mechanical team that perform comprehensive Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on our fleet of gas reciprocating engines. You will help spot early warning signs of engine malfunctions and raise corrective work orders to ensure maximum availability of gas and related plant through trouble shooting and fault rectification.
You will cover sites around the Swindon, Newbury and Bicester area working a Mon – Fri 40-hour week.
Job outline
- Service, diagnose and repair gas reciprocating engines on Captured Landfill Methane, Coal Mine Methane and Power Response generation sets, gas plants, flares, and Balance of Plant
- Identifying malfunctions against agreed company technical standards, and raise work orders to allow the effective and efficient resolution preventing engine downtime
- Monitor the work of contractors attending the repair of power generation equipment
- Consult with the gas field team to assist in resolving issues affecting compliance
- Document site visits, complete service reports, booking parts out as used
- Ensuring you are qualified and trained for the tasks you undertake and that you comply with the Company’s procedures, HSQE policies and relevant legislation
- Ensuring all equipment and processes comply with legislation, permits and the company’s HSQE requirements.
Is this job for you?
- Do you have mechanical or engineering qualifications, apprenticeship trained, educated to NVQ or HNC level or equivalent, qualified by experience or time-served
- You have gas engine knowledge on Jenbacher, Caterpillar or MWM engines, full training will be provided if you have a mechanical / engine experience
- You are experienced in stripping, repairing, and testing engines to component level
- You are safety conscience with strong problem-solving skills and are a great team player
- You have a Full UK driving license, preferably with field based experience.
