About the Role

We are looking for a HSQE Construction Manager with strong construction experience within the renewables sector to join our HSQEC & Sustainability team. This is a key leadership role responsible for maintaining and strengthening our proactive safety culture across a range of construction projects within the renewable energy sector.

Reporting to the Director of HSQEC & Sustainability, you will act as the HSQE lead across construction projects, working closely with operational teams, contractors and senior leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with company standards.

Location: Hybrid with frequent travel to various sites across the UK, including our Head Office in Northampton

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and guidance to directors, managers, safety representatives and employees on HSQE construction matters in line with ISO management systems
  • Formulate and evaluate practices and procedures to assess risk and adherence to law
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and relevant health & safety legislation across all company construction activities
  • Conduct site inspections, site audits and contractor audits to ensure compliance with ISO management systems and company standards
  • Investigate accidents and incidents as requested by the HSQE management team and report to appropriate management and authorities, ensuring effective close-out
  • Develop, review and implement HSQE policies, procedures and best practice initiatives
  • Maintain group RIDDOR AFR targets through raising safety observations and championing good health and safety practice
  • Ensure no formal enforcement actions or prosecution occur through proactive management
  • Develop and deliver HSQE construction training
  • Monitor and analyse HSQE construction performance data, identifying trends and implementing timely corrective actions
  • Ensure all HSQE documentation remains accurate, compliant and regularly reviewed

About you

Essential

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within solar, BESS and/or wind construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of construction health & safety legislation and CDM regulations
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels
  • A practical and solutions-focused approach to maintaining high HSQE standards
  • High levels of motivation, energy and enthusiasm to drive positive change
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Maximo
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility to travel, including overnight stays

  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety
  • ISO 9001 internal/lead auditor certificate
  • Technical member of IOSH
  • IOSH training certificate
  • IOSH accident investigation certificate
