Infinis has launched Infinis Futures, a new early careers programme designed to create skills and employment opportunities for young people in the places where the company is investing in new renewable energy infrastructure.
The first intake will create five Trainee Project Manager roles linked directly to three major Infinis renewable energy projects in Carlton, Stockton-on-Tees; Gowerton, Swansea; and Northamptonshire.
The programme forms part of Infinis’ wider ambition to ensure its projects leave a positive legacy in the places that host them, creating opportunities for local people alongside investment in new renewable energy infrastructure.
Unlike a traditional classroom based development programme, participants will be embedded in live renewable energy projects, working alongside experienced Infinis colleagues and gaining genuine project experience and responsibility from the outset.
They will develop practical skills across planning, coordination, reporting, stakeholder engagement and site activity while completing a Level 4 Associate Project Manager apprenticeship with Infinis’ apprenticeship training partners.
Bruce Heppenstall, CEO of Infinis said: “When we build in a community, I believe we have a responsibility to leave something meaningful behind. That should be more than the infrastructure itself. Infinis Futures is part of that commitment.
We want young people in the places where we are investing to see a future for themselves in renewable energy and to have a genuine opportunity to build the skills and experience to get there.
What makes this programme different is that participants won’t just be learning about project management in a classroom. They will be part of live renewable energy projects, working alongside experienced teams and gaining real responsibility and experience. As we grow, I want the communities that host our projects to share in that growth too.”
The first five roles will be based across:
- Carlton, Stockton-on-Tees – one role
- Gowerton, Swansea – one role
- Kettering, Northamptonshire – three roles
Infinis is investing in a growing pipeline of renewable energy projects across the UK, creating a need for the next generation of skilled people to help develop, build and operate new renewable energy infrastructure.
Infinis Futures will initially focus on project management, with the ambition to create further routes into the business as the company grows.
