Renewable power producer Infinis is progressing two major solar developments in the UK that will deliver more than 110MW of new renewable electricity capacity to the grid.
The projects, California Solar Park near Stockton-on-Tees and Gowerton Solar Park near Swansea, will have installed capacities of 70MW and 46MW respectively. Once operational, the sites are expected to generate enough renewable electricity to power more than 30,000 homes annually.
Together, the projects mark an important step in expanding Infinis’ growing solar portfolio and supporting the UK’s transition to a cleaner, more flexible and secure electricity system.
Infinis has appointed Greenvolt Next as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partner for both projects. Construction at California Solar Park is scheduled to begin in March 2026, with Gowerton following shortly afterwards. Both sites are expected to be operational by summer 2027.
Importantly, both projects have secured Contracts for Difference (CfDs), providing long-term revenue certainty and supporting the delivery of new renewable capacity at scale.
Andrew Leeding, Director of Development & Construction at Infinis, said:
“These projects represent an important milestone as we continue to expand our solar portfolio and deliver more renewable electricity to the UK grid. With Contracts for Difference secured, they provide long-term certainty while helping bring forward new renewable capacity.
Working with Greenvolt Next brings together strong development and delivery expertise to ensure these projects are built efficiently and to a high standard, while supporting local biodiversity and environmental stewardship and contributing to a cleaner, more resilient energy system.”
Owen Power, CEO, Greenvolt Next UK, said:
“We are pleased to be partnering with Infinis to deliver these significant solar projects. By combining our EPC expertise with Infinis’ strong track record in renewable energy infrastructure, we look forward to helping bring new renewable capacity to the UK energy system.”
Alongside generating clean electricity, both projects will include measures to enhance biodiversity and support local habitats, ensuring the sites deliver environmental benefits beyond renewable power generation.
