Volunteering round-up - Spring/Summer 2024
Tags
This year, Infinis team members have supported three regional events, in partnership with specialist consultancy Business Volunteers.
Our company encourages employees to devote time and skills to help make a difference in local communities. We run a regular volunteering programme each year.
From February to June 2024, team members supported the following good causes...
Forest of Avon Trust
The Forest of Avon Trust runs tree planting, woodland wellbeing, and many other activities to bring the benefits of trees to people in Bristol, Bath and across the West of England. The Infinis team braved wintery conditions to help plant and wrap protective sleeves around a range of tree species.
Pitsmoor Adventure Playground
Pitsmoor provide play, support, education and food to local children and their families at an outdoor play centre in Sheffield. The charity provides vital support to people without a safe outdoor living space space, and those experiencing food poverty. Our team took part in carpentry and other practical tasks to prepare the site for summer activities.
Re-cycle
Re-cycle collects and repairs thousands of unwanted bicycles each year and ships them to trusted partner charity organisations in Africa. Team members took part in stripping down and compacting hundreds of bicycles to be shipped.
Feedback
We are delighted to recieve some very positive feedback from organisations supported, including the following comments...
"The work you've done today as a team would have taken us well over a week to do, it's been a real pleasure to spend time with you all, and we can't thank you enough."
"I can't thank you enough for helping to plant the trees. We have a huge region to cover, and volunteers can make such a difference by giving their time to get involved. Even the weather didn't dampen the spirits of the team! Same time next year?"
"I can't thank you enough. We're a small charity with so much to do on the site, and the help and skills of the team was very much appreciated. The tasks completed would have taken us weeks to do on our own. Thank you for choosing us, giving your time, and helping to make a difference for local children."
Team members also enjoyed taking part and voiced how much they benefitted from their experience.
"I live in the region, and this was a great opportunity to make an impact. Hard work, but hugely satisfying at the end of the day to visually see what we achieved. It was a great pleasure to play a part in shaping its future."
"As a fairly new starter, it was a great oppurtunity to get out and meet some of the people I'll be supporting in my role. The charity couldn't have made us more welcome, and it was incredible seeing the thousands of bikes they get through every month and hearing stories about how they really do change lives for the better in Africa."
