This creates a circular economy model: energy generated from the site helps support the continued management of its environmental legacy. The next phase of that transformation is now in construction, with a 40 MWp solar park being developed on the restored landfill footprint. By using land that is already part of an engineered and managed environmental site, the project maximised the potential of already industrialised land while adding new zero-carbon electricity to the system. 

Once operational, the solar park is expected to power around 10,500 homes a year and save approximately +5,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually over its 35-year life. It will also support a private wire connection to neighbouring Cranfield University, supplying clean power directly to the campus and strengthening its long-term energy resilience. At the end of the solar park’s life, Infinis is committed to supporting the landowner, FCC Environment, in returning the site to a natural landscape.
