Local legacy: jobs, community fund and nature

Beyond the clean power it generates, Gowerton is built to leave a lasting mark on the community that hosts it. From the local jobs and supply-chain activity created during construction, the project is designed to deliver value that endures well beyond the day it switches on.

The construction programme, delivered with Greenvolt Next, supports activity across civil works, electrical installation, construction management, ecology and ongoing operations, extending supply-chain value into the local area and supporting 25 jobs during construction.

A £100,000 community fund, managed independently by Grantscape, has been set up for this project, putting lasting value directly into the surrounding community.

Gowerton is designed to leave the land richer than it found it, delivering around 26% biodiversity net gain through strengthened hedgerows, enhanced rush pasture, species-rich grassland and low-intensity conservation grazing. New drainage features will improve flood resilience along the Afon Llan, while bat boxes, bird boxes, insect hotels, butterfly banks and habitat piles will support local wildlife across the project’s 40-year life.

Gowerton is a strong example of Infinis’ delivery model in action: taking a consented, grid-secured project and moving it through construction into operation. By pairing solar generation with future battery storage, it will bring new renewable capacity online and provide flexible, dependable power for the grid.
