Local legacy: jobs, community fund and nature

Beyond the clean power it generates, Oaklands is built to leave a lasting mark on the community that hosts it. From the local jobs and supply-chain activity created during construction, to a dedicated community fund, the project is designed to deliver value that endures well beyond the day it switches on.

The construction programme, supports activity across civil works, electrical installation, construction management, ecology and ongoing operations, extending supply-chain value into the local area and providing for 25 jobs supported during construction.

A £150,000 community fund, managed independently by Grantscape, has been set up for this project, putting lasting value directly into the surrounding community.

Oaklands is designed to leave the land richer than it found it: a biodiversity net gain of 470 BNG units through gapped-up and enhanced hedgerows planted to improve connectivity, new wildflower grassland replacing intensive arable land, and tussock and meadow grassland managed on rotation, alongside the protection of existing woodland, scrub, ponds and watercourses throughout construction.

Oaklands shows the Infinis model in action: a proven pipeline that is moving from development into delivery. By co-locating solar and future battery storage, we are building clean energy infrastructure that can generate power when the sun shines, store it when supply is strong, and release it when the grid needs support, delivering practical benefits for energy security, local communities and nature enhancement in South Wales.
