Development

Development Manager

Location
Hybrid with UK travel

  • You will be responsible for the consent of development projects. That includes planning consents and land rights - such as leases, cable routes, freeholds and site access.

    You will find sites and check their suitability for solar, battery storage or hydrogen development. 

    You'll build relationships with landowners, councils, communities and other people who are interested in development. There is a lot of liaison with internal and external contacts.

    You will also manage external consultants to handle planning applications and environmental impact assessments.

  • Town planning experience and a related qualification, such as the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), is preferred. Or you might have renewable energy experience with a focus on planning.

    Land management or surveying experience is a bonus.

    A relevant accreditation - such as the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) or RTPI would be helpful.

    You need to be a good problem-solver, and able to think on your feet.

  • It's a fast-paced, interesting job. 

    There is a lot of variety. You'll deal with different types of land and build relationships with contacts from lots of backgrounds.

  • After this job, there's scope to progress to leadership roles in development. Or you could go into estates work.

    When you join the business, there's flexibility to decide whether to focus on land or planning, and then develop your career.

    Renewable energy experience is an advantage.

    You will need a full UK driving licence, as travel is required.

  • You’re involved from the early stages of a project, and help to shape what happens. You'll also get to see the final result.

    You get to build connections with lots of people inside and outside the business.

    You will travel around the country and visit sites at different phases of development.

  • From this job, you could progress to a development manager or more senior development planning role.

    You could also become a member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).

Project Manager

  • This job involves managing solar and battery storage construction projects. You must make sure that all developments meet quality and health and safety requirements.

    You will attend sites and make sure that projects stay on track. This involves regular discussions with contractors. You'll check that developments comply with planning agreements, and ensure that any environmental restrictions are managed sensitively.

    You will handle landowner queries, site-based community enquiries and any design changes. As the Infinis representative on the ground, this is a hands-on job.

  • There are a few different routes into this job. Construction, manufacturing or engineering experience would be useful.

    You need to be practical, with good attention to detail and great problem-solving skills.

    An understanding of the planning process would be helpful.

    Knowledge of the landfill/waste industry would be a bonus.

    A engineering or environmental science qualification may be an advantage.

    You will travel across the UK and visit projects as they develop.
