About the role

As the Outage Manager, you will lead a team of Front Desk Operators to provide 24/7 365-day support to our skilled mechanical, gas and electrical field-based teams to attend breakdown and equipment failures across our power generation sites covering the whole of the UK. You will evaluate power outages and support the process of first line fault diagnosis, coordinating and aligning priorities considering strict environmental compliance, health & safety policies, commercial impact, geography, and shift patterns. Your team will have full responsibility for the co-ordination of resource and parts to enable a cost-effective response to unscheduled events to avoid operational downtime.

This is a critical role that requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive operational excellence. You must be data focussed to analyse efficiencies to continuously review processes, procedures, and systems to help transform an operation from being reactive to proactive.

This is a Head Office based role working Monday – Friday 7.30am – 4pm in Northampton.
 

Job Outline:

  • Lead a high performing team to manage power outages responding to alarms or warning notifications by our SCADA telemetry system through to resolution ensuring that all aspects are coordinated centrally for standardisation, consistency & operational efficiency
     
  • Ensure that the progress of outages and technical failures are shared with teams, updating the Incident Management System (IMS) and provide ongoing short-term forecasts to update field teams when assets will return to service to avoid or minimise operational downtime
     
  • Function as a data steward, conduct gap analysis of compliance & high revenue impact events, reporting findings to operational teams on root causes and propose steps to prevent repeat issues and improve efficiencies
     
  • Ensure that emergency incidents, major issues, high compliance, and revenue warnings are escalated to teams keeping all stakeholders informed until a handover
     
  • Collaborate with the Planning and Optimisation teams to implement logical processes and create proactive systems using data driven decision to help achieve team and business goals
     
  • Develop the competence and skills of team members fostering a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional development
     
  • Set clear objectives for team members and manage personal development plans
     
  • Ensuring all Logistics Centre procedures and documentation are maintained in line with the ISO 9000 and Health and Safety standards.

  • You are adaptable with a positive can-do attitude to problem solving, with experience of bringing the team with you, and demonstrable resilience in the face of challenges
     
  • You are confident at presenting to stakeholders at all levels of seniority to highlight performance opportunities & offer solutions
     
  • You will be proficient in a range of business systems, a working knowledge of Maximo, SCADA, InSite and PowerBI would be advantageous, but an aptitude to learn new systems quickly will be essential.
