Operations Control specialists plan maintenance of our engine fleet. Team members schedule work orders and make sure the right people are booked for the right jobs. They also monitor systems, deal with outages and look for ways to help us boost performance and income.

Operations Control

Logistics Operator

Location
Northampton/hybrid

  • Logistics operators are the first line of support if any problems occur. You could expect to:

    • Use systems to monitor power generation sites and assets
    • Monitor our lone working system, helping other team members to stay safe
    • Monitor systems to ensure landfill sites are environmentally compliant
    • Spot engine outages and work out what action is needed to solve the problem.
  • Good IT skills – ideally with experience of asset management systems. Basic Microsoft skills are expected.

    Control centre experience would be great. A basic understanding of engineering principles is also preferred.

    You must be a team player, with a positive attitude.

    You’ll need good written and verbal communication skills, and be able to help people understand you quickly and clearly.

    The rotating shift pattern - four days on and four days off – is very popular.

    You get to know lots of people across the business.

  • From this job you could naturally progress to a Power Response Supervisor or Outage Manager job.

  • Planners schedule all the work for our team of site-based technicians. This job involves managing a very busy maintenance workload, and making sure operations run optimally.

    In this job, you would:

    • Use IT systems to assign work orders – making sure people get work done in the most efficient way
    • Liaise with the Operations Team and contractors if plans change and jobs need moving
    • Manage scheduled maintenance cycles for large-scale operations.
  • You need basic IT skills. Asset management/ERP systems experience is a bonus.

    A resource planning background would give you a real advantage for this job.

    You must be very organised, able to prioritise and a great timekeeper.

  • Health and safety managers make sure that our strong safety culture is maintained across the company.

    In this job, you perform regular site audits to make sure operations are run securely. You'll visit sites and check that all systems and procedures are being followed. This includes:

    • Checking the site complies with the law and meets environmental standards
    • Making sure that all systems and processes are being followed
    • Taking photographs and logging evidence
    • Reviewing site controls and activities.

     

     

  • For this job, you need to have a practical knowledge of health and safety. A safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH certificate, would be a bonus.

    You must be a confident communicator, with strong influencing skills.

    You need to be comfortable using IT packages such as Excel and PowerPoint.

    You will need a full UK driving licence and be prepared to travel, as there will be regular visits to sites around your region.

  • Your work helps to keep people safe across our business.

    You share learning and best practice so that everyone benefits.

    There is regular regional travel, so you can visit different places and meet lots of people.

     

  • With this experience, there is scope to move into a more senior safety and construction job. Or you might be interested in a role that focuses on environmental compliance.

    • Work with regional teams to improve performance and ensure our assets stay strong and reliable
